My mom and I had a mini 'Girl's Night Out' at Monte Casino – and what better way to spend quality time together than to go watch 'My Week With Marilyn' on the opening night (it only started showing in South Africa today, despite opening in other countries during the end of last year) ...
'My Week With Marilyn' tells the story of Colin Clark, a 23-year-old British aristocrat who, through his connections, works as the third assistant director on the British set of 'The Prince and the Showgirl' starring Sir Laurence Oliver and Marilyn Monroe (who is also on honeymoon with her new husband, playwright Arthur Miller). When Marilyn starts to crumble underneath pressures, both personal and professional, she and Colin form an unlikely connection.

My Thoughts:
The story is told from the perspective of Colin Clark, which I thoroughly enjoyed, as it kept the 'Mystery that is Marilyn' unsolved — adding to her allure.
Michelle Williams is absolutely mesmerising in the lead role and at times I had to wonder whether it was Michelle or Marilyn on screen; she captures the magnetic charm and seductive, yet child-like, vulnerability of Marilyn Monroe perfectly. It makes me want to watch all of Marilyn's Magical Movie Moments all over again.

This Movie is truly a Gem and I really do recommend you give it a watch wether or not you are a devotee of Marilyn Monroe.
