Disney gets a High-Fashion Makeover

The New York store Barneys, has collaborated with Disney for the upcoming Christmas Campaign, which sees iconic characters including Minnie, Daisy Duck and Cruella de Vil getting high-fashion makeovers...

Entitled Electric Holiday, the campaign pays tribute to Disney's famous 'Electric Parades' and will be launched with a three-dimensional light show on 14 November 2012.

"This is a lot of fun," said Barneys creative director Dennis Freedman, who explained that the store has tried to represent the fashion industry as accurately as possible. "The important thing to me was always that it had to be authentic," he told WWD"It really had to hit the nail on the head in every detail."

Alongside stills of each character, the campaign also features a short film centring on a dream of Minnie's, in which she's front row at a fashion show — with her newly-styled Disney counterparts appearing on the catwalk.

Other characters to feature include: Cruella is dressed head-to-toe in Rik Owens, Mickey in Balenciaga, Goofy in Balmain, Princess Tiana in Proenza Schouler, and Snow White in Nina Ricci.

This is one Christmas Display that I'd really love to see. New York for Christmas maybe...hmmm?
