Fat Laugh with Fat Pig

Fat Pig is currently on at Sandton’s Old Mutual Theatre (until 5 May 2012) and is an award-winning Broadway show which is deceptively sprinkled with comedy about society's fixation with Body Image ...

The show, written by Internationally Acclaimed playwright and screenwriter, Neil LaBute, is produced by South African actress, Lee-Anne Summers in association with Daphne Kuhn of the Old Mutual Theatre on the Square

It boasts a Proudly South African, All-Star cast including: Egoli’s Chanelle de Jager, South African actress, Lee-Anne Summers, the dashing Colin Moss (known for his work in feature films such as Number 10 and The World Unseen) and theatre personality, Clayton Boyd. At the helm will be experienced local director, Tamryn Spiers.

The Plot:
The play tells the story of Tom (Colin Moss), a 30-something professional, who finds himself unexpectedly falling in love with Helen (Chanelle de Jager), a plus-sized librarian. The show follows the unlikely couple’s budding relationship, and the obstacles they face in a society preoccupied with Appearances. The play utilizes LaBute’s renowned wit and provocative humour to present an insightful exposé on a generation obsessed with image and aesthetic ideals.

Amongst the witty humour and the brutal honesty of the play, one thing's certain, with this obsession on 'the perfect body image', there isn't always room for a Happily Ever After.
