Mia Wasikowska has been named the face of Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2012 campaign.

Wasikowska first shot to fame when she starred in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, alongside Johnny Depp and last year, she played the title role in Jane Eyre, opposite Michael Fassbender. Since then, she has been a fixture on the fashion scene, attracting attention with her quirky style.

The Australian star was pictured on the front row of the Miu Miu show last season - a clue she was the next big thing for the brand, owned by Prada.

She must really love this brand as she told Vogue Magazine back in August 2011: "I'm not sure about becoming a campaign star. It would depend on what brand it is, what it was for and on timings - we'll see." 

The Miu Miu campaign is one of the most coveted assignments in the fashion industry and more often than not, features young Hollywood starlets. Other actresses to take up the role in the past include Katie Holmes, Lindsay Lohan and Kirsten Dunst.

Mia replaces Hailee Steinfeld, whose ad was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority after it received a complaint that it was ‘irresponsible’ because it was suggestive of youth suicide.

The first look of the Miu Miu 2012 campaign staring Mia Wasikowska features her in a creation with bright shades and floral prints. I am Q-rious and looking forward to see what else this duo have up their sleeves.
