Tie-d Down?

In an Office environment most men wear suits, and with suits comes The Tie. When dressing in suit, it is the necktie that will often add a dash of flavor to the overall outfit. While suits are typically gray, navy, or black and dress shirts either blue or white, it is a man's neckwear that adds a strong accent with its color and pattern. 

A Bit of History:
The modern necktie, ascot, and bow tie are descended from the cravat; a short, wide strip of fabric worn by men around the neck and tucked inside an open-necked shirt.

Cravat

Ties are generally unsized, but may be available in a longer length. They are usually considered to be part of office attire or formal wear and are traditionally worn with the top shirt button fastened, and the tie knot resting comfortably between the collar points. However, it has become common in recent times for neckties to be worn as a casual item, tied loosely around the neck, nearly always with one or several buttons unfastened ... or even with a tee.


Tie Trends for 2012:
One of the most visible patterns is the micro hounds-tooth check in a monochromatic color scheme. Also popular among several designers is the idea of using two complimentary colors on the tie, this will create a different colored knot to the rest of the tie.
