'Print-tastic' Pieces

As a relatively new designer, Mary Katrantzou proves, once more, that she belongs amongst the 'Big Designers' with her F/W 2012 range at London Fashion Week...

She focuses mainly on Prints in her Design; this time employing everyday subject matter like spoons, phone dials, typewriter keys, luggage tassels and hangers in her Fabric Designs. However, the objects used to make the prints are hardly recognizable as she warped and mutated them into an entirely unusual and futuristic element.

This collection, as Katrantzou said, was about "celebrating the beauty in the everyday" and "elevating the mundane to the sublime".

The prints and embellishments were delightful (not to mention extremely inventive) — but the construction in this collection was just as interesting: Victorian bustled dresses, strict Elizabethan corsetry, undulating neck ruffles and dresses whose skirts gathered vertically around the body, were brilliantly put together and endlessly new.

This is my Favourite Outfit ... I love the repetition of Pencils!

Each one of these statement pieces is a Magnificent Work of Art. What is there left to say? ... This collection is Eccentrically Beautiful! I am very Q-rious to see what she will come up with next season!
