After reading a post on Neofundi about Artist Eugene Hön's solo exhibition at Melrose Arch, I was Q-rious to witness the Art first-hand ...

The Exhibition included Ceramics, Jewellery, Drawings, Artists Books and Projections, and is located at the Elegence Jewellers Store (which is a Highly Sophisticated and Upmarket Store; if you haven't been there yet ... go take a look!)

A Bit of About Eugene Hön:

Eugene Hön is a Johannesburg-based Ceramic Artist who enjoys drawing. He currently is an academic lecturer in the Department of Jewellery and Ceramics at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Gauteng.

The Exhibition includes a video on the installation entitled "and the ship sails on" which consisted of Hön's Ballpoint-Pen Drawings being Projected onto 4 'Decoy-Ducks' made from Gilded Ceramics.

The exhibition coincides with the Chinese Year of the Dragon. There is much symbolism in the video (below), which the artist explains in his blog post, that you can read by clicking here.

Elegance Jewellers collaborated with the artist on his Installation, and created the jewellery designs that Hön had rendered for this project.

The Exhibition also included a selection of preparatory Ballpoint-Pen drawings for the "and the ship sails on" installation. They were selected from the artist’s sketchbook and took a year to complete. In addition, they feature the conceptual and design development of the jewellery pieces shown at the exhibition.

I thouroughly enjoyed Hön's Solo Exhibition; it was very thought provoking. I loved the Intricacy of his creations and the novelty of the presentation. The symbolism within the Installation has been carefully crafted to portray Prosperity and Potential for the year of 2012.
